31 Days of Music -- Day 10

Favorite classic (over 20 years old) album: Led Zepplin IV (1971)

I love classic rock.  It's what I was raised on. The soundtrack of my youth was provided by KGON, Portland's classic rock station.  I could have picked any number of albums for this and nearly did a "top five" but lately I've come to appreciate the "the symbols" album more and more.

Obvious choice?  Maybe.  "Stairway to Heaven" was easily my favorite song as a kid. When I started learning to play guitar it was the iconic riff of "Black Dog" that lead me back to this album in my teens.  "The Battle of Evermore" became a favorite in my twenties after hearing the Lovemongers' version on the "Singles" soundtrack. My current favorite track is "When the Levee Breaks" and I think part of my new found respect for the album as a whole is in the variation between the songs.  That and it totally fucking rocks.
