31 Days of Music -- Day 07

Most underrated album: "Stranger's Almanac" by Whiskeytown

I don't understand why Ryan Adams' early band Whiskeytown didn't make it bigger.  During the whole No Depression "Alt-Country" movement they were totally upstaged by Uncle Tupelo, the Jayhawks and Wilco but this is a CD, although released in 1997, that still makes it's way in to heavy rotation in my house and car.  It also distinguishes itself from the other bands in this genre by featuring lilting violin and melodic backing vocals courtesy of Caitlin Carey.  I've always been a big fan of male/female harmony and the songs below are two of my favorites on this album.

This is a tough one.

I am going to go with "Red Letter Year" by Ani Difranco. By the reaction from the fans that I know, it was not a true "Little Folk Singer" hit. But I love it all the way through.
