We recently finished a fairly ambitious bathroom project - at least for us, it was ambitious as we are merely novices in our building/remodeling skills. Although it was just a mini-remodel (no plumbing moved, no walls knocked out, etc.) it was still our first foray in to tiling and dealing with plumbing is always an adventure.
It all started when we decided to re-finish the tub. We bought an epoxy at the hardware store and after it was done, we found that the tub looked too nice to be enclosed by a cheap, grungy surround so we ripped out the existing shower walls. Once we figured out how to install the new surround on our awkward, not square walls (grrrrr) we decided new fixtures were also in order and we raised the shower head with an extender so that it would finally be tall enough for my big tall man to stand under.

After - brushed nickel fixtures and clean, white walls
Once that was done, we of course started finding other fixable flaws - the floor was stained with spilled Scentsy wax, the wall color was not to my liking, the sink was taking up too much room... the only thing to do was rip it out!

Buh bye!

This is the tile before grout. I love this stuff - and it was easy to do!

You inspired me, Amy. Thanks.
