10 Foods You Should Buy Organic

I’ve been much more conscious of pesticides and hormones and preservatives and crap in my food since taking the Earth Institute class on sustainable living. But honestly, sometimes it is so hard to shop organic. So I was very pleased when I came across this article recently and thought I would hit you with the vital info:

10: Meat – To reduce Mad Cow disease, obviously.
9: Dairy Products – I love my organic milk! The taste alone is worth the extra expense.
8: Eggs - They don't cost much and are worth it.
7: Coffee - Also worth it.
6: Peaches - I was surprised that they are #1 on the Environmental Working Group's list of foods with the most and the highest concentration of pesticides. That’s NOT peachy.
5: Potatoes – I can attest that organic potatoes taste so much more potatoe-y than “regular” potatoes.
4: Peppers - Their thin skin absorbs pollutants.
3: Leafy Greens - We know this from the spinach scare a few years back.
2. Baby Food – Pesticides are toxic to the brain and can interfere with development. Well duh.
1. Your Own Personal Faves - If you eat a lot of one particular food, it's worth it to buy the organic version. Do they even MAKE organic whiskey?

10 Foods That Are OK
I was also glad that they included this list because, as much as I try to buy organic, this shit gets expensive. Here are a few items that don't absorb much pesticide or are peeled before eating:
Asparagus
Avocados
Bananas
Broccoli
Cabbage
Kiwi
Mango
Onions
Papaya
Pineapple

Cool idea to post this!!! Now you've got me wanting to hit the store, buy some of each kind and do a taste test myself, just to really get the full effect. :)
