Frak – Why Didn’t I Think of That?

I just heard about this album by a singer/songwriter named Marian Call that sounds too good (er, geeky?) to be true. Call, who by all accounts seems to be your a run-of-the-mill folky chanteuse type Indie chick from Alaska apparently has become a recent fan of sci-fi TV shows. This has influenced her art in, well, a rather obvious way.

The songs on her new album "Got to Fly" are inspired by Firefly/Serenity and Battlestar Galactica, and "by the fans and friends she's met by coming out of the closet as a nerd.”

Only 1,000 CDs were pressed but luckily, you can download these toe-tapping tunes here.
A couple of the notable tracks include: "I'll Still Be a Geek After Nobody Thinks It's Chic" (The self proclaimed Nerd Anthem) "Good Old Girl" (about one captain Kara “Starbuck” Thrace and the ship she flies) and lastly, "It's Good to Have Jayne on Your Side." Yes. Gorram right it’s good.

Here's hoping an MP3 of the Firefly theme is in the works. I'd like to hear her take.
