I Don't Care if You Don't Believe Me

I’ve always thought there was a loose similarity between rock stars and superheroes - the costumes, idolatry, the alter-egos. So I always thought that it would be cool to write a comic about my fave dynamic musical trio, Sleater-Kinney and their adventures in rock.

In fact, I had a near Winklevoss moment when I saw this because I swear, I thought of this years ago - and, like the infamous twins, I didn't have the necessary skills to do it on my own.

Still, I am glad I came across this even if it doesn't quite live up to my original concept .It's still awesome to see someone's interpretation of the band.  Also, it contains a sweet cameo by the White Stripes!

And for those who doubt, here's my rough "sketch" of the indubitable queens of the NW indie scene:

They obviously don't compare with the professional's rendition but I feel I captured their essence.

On the topic of Sleater-Kinney, I realize I have of lot of posts surrounding Ms. Brownstein with her former blog and participation in the IFC show Portlandia, so in the interest of fairness (and also because I love this grungy little PDX-centric video) I thought I should post something from Ms. Tucker as well.  Here's Corin's solo debut single, "Riley."  I hear she has another album in the works and the early reviews sound promising.

All this talk has made me nostalgic so, on one last riotous note, here is one of their last performances.  Watch for Janet, sneaking through the open window.
