Hospital, Sweetie (AKA The humiliation of Matt Schoessler)

It’s been a crazy few days with everything that’s been happening but I want to at least acknowledge a pretty big milestone in our lives. Matt has his lap-band surgery on Friday and is recovering really well. Despite some initial worry and waiting (the anesthesiologist was like 2 hours late), he was in and out and home the same night. Today, in his words, he is feeling "Super Duper."  In fact, he seems to be doing so well, sometimes I forget what he has just gone through and have to fight the urge to ask, “what do you want to do for dinner tonight?” (He’s on a liquid diet for a few more weeks!) I know there will be some big changes in lifestyle but for now, I really don’t see much changing other than we’ll be a lot healthier. Here are a few pictures that I wanted to post for posterity:

Just before surgery.  It's a go!

Except for the iodine, it doesn't look too bad, eh?

Of the five incisions, this was the biggest

48 hours later - liquid Vicodin has it's benefits

In conclusion, I want to say Matt, you inspire me. I love you and I'm so proud to be your wife. I look forward to all of our next adventures together!

So glad Matt is home and saying Super Duper. That's a happy Matt if ever I've heard one! Those scars are crazy - looks like someone couldn't decide where to start... :) I'm sure they have their reasons :) Keep up the good work on the whole process, Matt, and good for you Skye, for making the necessary life changes right along with him. Getting healthier is never a bad thing. Will you come over and motivate ME?!

What a team, you two. I'm so excited for you both, and love the beatific smile in the Vico picture. Is coffee still allowed as part of the liquid? Please say yes! :p

T - no coffee, no beer. Can you believe this guy? I'll say it again: AMAZING!
