Things I am Looking Forward To

Movies:

The Chronicles of Narnia – The Lion the Witch and the Wardrobe - The first installment of the beloved stories by C.S. Lewis. I CAN'T freaking WAIT. I am half considering dressing in full costume as Susan.

Jarhead - I just re-watched American Beauty and realized the sad subtle genius of that film all over again. I am exstatic to see the Sam Mendes take on the novel about the first Gulf War.

Aeon Flux – Can Charlize Theron pull off another coup of personality, going from pretty face to action hero in the film version of the Japanese animated series? Find out on December 9th.

The DaVinci Code - Not that I really thought the book was all that well written, I did find the story both scandalous and compelling. And I need no excuse to love on Audrey Tautou.

CDs:

Kathleen Edwards - "Back to Me"
Being a fan of her debut album "Failer," I can't believe that I have yet to pick this one up.

Fiona Apple - "Extraordinary Machine"
I heard the leaked version of this album (courtesy of Mike) and never really thought that much of it. I'll reserve final judgement until I hear the different versions.

DVD:

Elizabethtown - Extended DVD (I hope!)
Saw this movie over the weekend. What happened? How could Cameron Crowe so let me down? Then I read a review that said the original version was chopped up to fit in to less than 2 hours and that the version seen at Cannes was excellent. I probably have a good eight months to drool over the possibility of the cut sex scenes.

The X-Files - Season 3
Man! I forgot how much I loved that show.

Well I sure do hope your pocketbook can support your undying love for the arts :) I myself am wondering how, with Matt just in the other room, how you dared to leave the latest Harry Potter movie off your list...What if he finds out?!?!?! He he he.

As for Elizabethtown, that doesn't even seem like a movie you would watch if you KNEW there were great sex scenes. Kirsten D. and all....

The retail release of Extraordinary Machine is, IMHO, a mixed bag of luke-warm oddities. They took what they suppossedly thought were weak songs and gussied them up with some bells and whistles to appease the rabid "You can't shelve our Fiona" fans.

But if they thought the songs were weak to begin with, why bother?

I like the leaked versions much better.

*DISCLAIMER*
The above use of "they" references those that make all of the unseen choices. Not fairies or the Widmer Brothers. Just to clarify

As I am now reading "Goblet Of Fire" I should note that it's release is now on my list. It looks fantastic and I am sure it will clean up at the box office. I just wasn't as stoked I guess because I've seen three other H.P. movies (and loved them all, yes.) Not being yet privy to how Aeon Flux or TLTWATW OR A Scanner Darkly (which I negligently omitted) will translate to screen yet is part of the anticipation. And there's always the fun of guessing "who's-going-to-play-whom" (when I'm too lazy to click on IMDB).

And I've only heard one song from the newly revamped Ms. Apple and I LOVE it. "Oh Sailor" is fantabulous but I honestly can't tell if it is any different than the leaked version. My first impression was not too favorable (other than the title track which is GREAT) so I guess I'll have to go back and revisit.

I'll come down to the Couv and see HP with you guys! Most of the gang up here work on, or are spouses of people who work on, the videogames based off of a lot of those movies, so getting them stoked about seeing GoF is a losing battle.

I also just saw that they're making a sequel to "Underworld." I'm intrigued.
